Minnesota Woman Has 50/50 Chance To Win The Million And Change Her Life
Forever
BURBANK – February 14, 2008 –
Will Katie Henslin of Forest Lake, Minnesota be the one to finally win the
million dollars in "Deal or No Deal's" Million Dollar Mission?
The Million Dollar Mission reaches a thirteen case high when half the
board is revealed to have thirteen one-million-dollar briefcases, giving
Katie Henslin a 50% chance of choosing a $1 million case. Will it be lucky
number thirteen for Henslin and the end of the Million Dollar Mission on
Monday, February 18 (8-9 p.m. ET)?
When 28-year-old Henslin claims to be very competitive and never loses
a game, the Banker, always looking for a way to elevate the stakes, calls
down a challenge. He has learned that her husband, Pete, is afraid of
heights and wants him to stand on a platform, hanging by cables, that will
be raised every time his wife opens a case holding $1 million. In this
emotional and life-altering game, how high will Katie take Pete?
Determined to give away the top prize, the Million Dollar Mission first
started on September 26, 2007. For every contestant who did not win the
top prize of $1 million, an additional $1 million briefcase was added to
the board. Last fall, over the course of three weeks, the Million Dollar
Mission went up to a total of eight $1 million cases, but no one took home
the big money. Determined to find that first-ever million-dollar winner,
the Million Dollar Mission returned on January 2, 2008, starting with two
$1 million cases on the board. Over the past several weeks, with no one
winning the top prize, it's now up to thirteen $1 million cases on the
board.
"Deal or No Deal" premiered on December 15, 2005. In the
history of the show, out of 196 contestants in 147 episodes, only 11 have
held the million dollars in their case, but have been unable to go the
distance for the top prize. The highest amount that was taken home in a
game where the top prize was $1 million was $471,000.
Based on the successful format from Endemol that has aired in over 40
countries, "Deal or No Deal" is produced by Endemol USA, a
division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol
USA. The series is executive-produced by Scott St. John.
