Pamela
Anderson Protests Seal Hunting in Paris
2/15/08
Actress Pamela Anderson will deliver a letter from animal rights
campaigner Bridgette Bardot to the Canadian ambassador in Paris to protest
seal hunting.
The former Baywatch star was in the French capital on Valentine's Day
(14Feb08) to perform a series of burlesque strip shows at the famous Le
Crazy Horse club.
And animal-lover Anderson used the opportunity to promote the
protection of baby seals and to ask Canada to help prevent seal hunting in
the Arctic region.
Speaking at a press conference in the city, she said, "It (seal
hunting) sickens me not just as a Canadian but as a human being."
Anderson, 40, also called on the fashion industry to stop using animal
pelts.
She added, "The hunt was dead for 20 years, and has been revived,
not to honour local customs or conserve cod stocks, but because new
markets for fur have opened up in Russia and China."
An impressed Bardot, who was at her home in St. Tropez, France, offered
Anderson the best via a speakerphone message.
She said: "You are my Valentine, I kiss you."
