Lane
Garrison Watches Prison Break From Behind Bars
2/15/08
Incarcerated former Prison Break star Lane Garrison has turned on the
hit show in a bid to help pass the time behind bars.
In a letter to U.S. entertainment news show Access Hollywood, the
27-year-old actor admits he watched his former cast mates on the drama's
premiere last month (Jan08) - and he noted the irony.
Garrison, a regular in the first series of Prison Break, writes,
"It's pure irony coming from the show and now living the real deal.
It's surreal and mind-blowing to say the least.
"They let a group of inmates watch the season premiere of Prison
Break. It felt like an out of body experience as I stood around a crowd of
tattooed felons watching (character) Michael Scofield try to escape, all
of us longing to be free as well."
Garrison was sentenced to serve 40 months at California's Donovan State
Prison in October (07) after crashing his car drunk and killing a teenage
passenger in Hollywood in December 2006.
He admits his time already spent behind bars has been a very difficult
period: "This has been the hardest year of my life. I hope people,
young and old, are learning from my mistakes and what can happen when you
drink and drive.
"I have much to say about the pain I've felt and seen inside of
prison. It has been eye-opening and a harrowing experience."
