Charlize Theron Shuns Academy Awards  2/17/08

Actress Charlize Theron is shunning red carpet glamour at this year's (08) Oscars ceremony - in favor of her pajamas.

The 32-year-old - who won a Best Actress Academy Award in 2004 for Monster - and director/actor boyfriend Stuart Townsend have no plans to attend the 2008 ceremony, but will cheer on their Hollywood peers from the comfort of their living room sofa.

She says, "We are not going. I don't think you go to those kind of award shows unless you are nominated.

"I think it's a special thing if you get a nomination, or your film does.

Then you go.

"But we don't have any nominations or anything like that in the house, so we sit in our jammies and watch it on the couch."

The annual awards event will take place in Los Angeles on 24 February (08).
