Garlic Cost Steven Spielberg Valerie Bertinelli Romance  2/29/08

Steven Spielberg's dislike for garlic cost him a romance with TV star Valerie Bertinelli.

The couple dated for three months after she auditioned for Raiders Of The Lost Ark, but when the director turned his nose up at her culinary skills, the 19-year-old Bertinelli realized the relationship was doomed.

She recalls, "I was making dinner for him one evening and I was getting ready to chop up the garlic and he saw it. He said, 'No, no, no, no garlic!' I went, 'Really? OK.'
