CBS's
two reality heavyweights -- Survivor and The Amazing Race -- will return
in February.
The
12th edition of Survivor, Survivor Panama - Exile Island, premieres
Thursday, Feb. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT). The most recent installment,
"Survivor: Guatemala," won its time period every week in viewers
(18.30m), adults 18-49 (6.5/18) and adults 25-54 (7.9/19) and maintained
its place in history as being one of only six programs to finish every
season (11 editions over the course of five and a half seasons) in the top
10.
Survivor Panama - Exile Island, hosted by Jeff Probst, will find the 16 new
castaways initially divided into four tribes of four -- Older Men vs.
Older Woman vs. Younger Men vs. Younger Women (the four tribes will become
two during a schoolyard pick in the second episode). During the duration
of Survivor Panama - Exile Island, at least one castaway each episode
will be banished to a separate island miles away from camp. While being
separated from the tribe is not desirable, the castaways will learn that
there is a hidden Immunity Idol somewhere on Exile Island. If found, this
Immunity Idol could save an individual from being voted out at a future
Tribal Council.
Survivor: Panama
is produced by SEG, Inc. Mark Burnett and Tom Shelly are the
executive producers.
The
ninth installment of The Amazing Race returns to its international format
where teams of two will travel to exotic locations, spanning five
continents, with stops in the Middle East, Moscow and Sicily to name a
few. The three time Emmy Award-winning adventure series premieres Tuesday,
Feb. 28 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).
Last
spring's The Amazing Race 7, the most recent edition to have the
two-person team format, achieved series high ratings in viewers (13.03m),
adults 18-34 (4.6/13), adults 18-49 (5.3/13) and adults 25-54 (6.1/14).
The Amazing Race, which has been the recipient of the Emmy Award for Best
Reality Program for three consecutive years, is produced by Amazing Race
Productions Inc. and Touchstone Television Productions, LLC. Jerry
Bruckheimer, Bertram van Munster, Jonathan Littman and Hayma Screech
Washington are executive producers. Phil Keoghan is host.
Meanwhile,
CBS's mid-season series Love
Monkey, which premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 17,
will remain in the Tuesday 10:00-11:00 PM time period.
