Steven
Spielberg Movie in Bafta Mishap
1/10/06
Steven Spielberg fears his new movie Munich will fail to win a single
gong at the British Academy Film And Television Awards (BAFTAs) later this
year (FEB06), after a string of disasters delayed DVDs intended for
voters.
The movie has been short listed in Best Director and Best Adapted
Screenplay categories, but DVDs sent from the US failed to reach voters
when they were held up at customs. An emergency second batch were then
deployed, but officials soon discovered they were coded for North American
viewers, rendering them unwatchable to many in the UK.
The movie has now missed the first round of voting which closed on 4
January (06). The second round of voting closes on Thursday (12JAN06).
Spokeswoman Sara Keene says, "We are looking into what possible
technical solution there might be for the problem.
"Meanwhile we've arranged three more screenings of the movie over
the next three days."
