Minogue Given All Clear
1/13/06
Brave pop singer Kylie Minogue has reportedly been given the all-clear
from breast cancer after battling the disease for eight months.
The Spinning Around hit maker, 37, was forced to cancel the Australian
leg of her Showgirl tour last May (05) after doctors discovered a lump on
her breast.
Minogue immediately had a mastectomy in Melbourne, Australia, the same
month, and started chemotherapy treatment in her boyfriend Olivier
Martinez's hometown of Paris, France.
British newspaper The Sun reports Minogue received test results from
Parisian doctors last Friday (06JAN06) declaring she is now cancer-free
and has returned to her family in Melbourne, Australia, to celebrate.
After celebrating Martinez's 40th birthday in Paris over the weekend
(07-08JAN06), the delighted couple flew to Melbourne to join her mother
Carol, father Ron, sister Dannii and brother Brendan.
A source close to the singer says, "She is thrilled and relieved.
It's been a tough few months and there have been times when she felt very
weak and very down.
"Chemotherapy is a gruelling, horrible treatment which puts the
body under intense strain. But this is the news she has been waiting to
hear and she can hardly put her happiness into words.
"Her hair is even beginning to grow back, which she is tickled
pink about. So this news really is the icing on the cake."
The Sun claims Minogue will start radiation treatment next week
(begs16JAN06) as a precautionary measure to prevent the cancer returning.
