Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher is planning to show off her singing skills on the hit show - and she's impressing cast and crew with her scales.

The actress has been giving private concerts to colleagues to prepare for her upcoming performances on the hit show.

Her character, Susan, is to get a job singing in a bar, according to American magazine In Touch.

The 41-year-old is no stranger to singing roles - she starred as Sally Bowles in a Los Angeles theatrical production of Cabaret in 1999.

But, just to make sure she hits all the right notes, she's working with voice teacher Seth Riggs, and insiders claim her hard work is paying off - she's received an offer to stage a one-woman show from a top Las Vegas, Nevada casino.
