American
Idol January 18th “Singing for high stakes in Denver”
1/19/06
By Marcus
American Idol cruised to
Denver
to discover the best in the
Rocky Mountains
. Some golden nuggets were found, but mostly it was just gravel. Here is a
quick wrap up:
Princess Tiffany with her faded orange boots had a
voice that would choke a vulture.
Forgetful David’s song had three words, and he
could not remember them.
But 16 year old Lisa with long dark cascading hair
immediately wowed us. She has a young voice that needs depth. She is
heading to
Hollywood
.
Gymnast Amanda needs to stay with her cartwheels and
leave the singing to someone else.
Brett the Ace with his dazzling smile and vibrant
personality established an instant connection with the judges. He has
earned a trip to
Hollywood
.
Evicted and about to be homeless again Rochelle had
the best voice of the night. Cheered on by her very own fan club, she will
be a singer to be watched. She belted out her song like a homerun king.
Lookout
Hollywood
, here comes Rochelle.
Shaved head Chris came through not only for himself
and but also for his adoring and tearful wife. He is going to
Hollywood
.
Cattle cowboy Garet will take his very first
airplane flight, destination
Hollywood
. But unless he makes major
improvements, it is back to singing to the ranch turkeys. Literally.
Flawless and not a fashion statement Nick may be a
few ounces short of brain tissue.
The cosmic drink coaster inventor Ben flopped.
But April with the red flower in her hair not only
sang well, but suggested stage presence.
Thousands tried out for the
Denver
auditions and less than two dozen are making the next step. Their hope for
fame, fortune and a sweet CD deal awaits one of them.
