Deborah Gibson Falls in Love With Skating  1/23/06

Eighties pop star Deborah Gibson thanks hit new US reality show Skating With Celebrities for giving her a new hobby.

The singer is among the favorites to win the contest, which links pop stars, athletes and actors with Olympic skating champs.

And now she can't wait to get onto the ice no matter where she is.

She explains, "Every trip I've taken since the end of the show, my skates have come in my suitcase with me. It's like I never had any hobby, other than what I do for a living.

"People would say, `What do you do for fun?' and I'd say, 'Well, I sing and I play piano.' Now, at 35, I have a hobby that has nothing to do with what I do for a living, which is awesome.

"My new goal is to do an ice skating Broadway musical."
