Celine Dion to Close A New Day in December 1/5/07

Celine Dion is planning a Christmas 2007 farewell to Las Vegas after announcing she'll bring the curtain down on her hit A New Day show on 15 December (07).

The Canadian singer has been performing to packed houses at the Coliseum theatre - a venue specially built to house her show - since March 2003.

In a statement released yesterday (04JAN07), Dion said, "I know this will be the best year yet."

Dion initially signed a three-year, $100 million contract to perform the show at Caesars, but extended it through to the end of 2007.

Producers claim as many as 2.5 million people have seen the show since it opened. A New Day will be filmed later this month (JAN07) for a TV special and DVD.

Dion plans to mark the final year of the show with new costumes and by changing aspects of her performance.
