Aretha Franklin Asks Denzel Washington for Help With Film Roles  1/9/07

Music legend Aretha Franklin is so desperate to land another film role she is asking Denzel Washington to use his influence in Hollywood on her behalf.

The singer hasn't been offered a role on the big screen since her part in The Blues Brothers 2000 opposite James Brown, which was filmed in 1998.

So Franklin has appealed to two-time Oscar winner Washington via E! Online, saying, "Hey, Denzel, give me a little play here!

"He's a super actor, and I'm sure he would lend a little bit of his expertise to me. I think we could do something really smashing."

Franklin still maintains some ties to the film world - her duet Never Gonna Break My Faith with Mary J Blige appears on the soundtrack for Bobby, and she recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.
