Jimmy Fallon Regrets Heroic Deed  1/15/07

US funnyman Jimmy Fallon has given up on his dreams of becoming a people's champion after one act of heroism made him look awful.

The comedian-turned-movie star helped a woman fish her wallet out of a sewer, but his reward was a terrible write-up in the press.

He recalls, "Everyone wants to get asked for advice and help people and stuff like that. I helped a girl fish her wallet out of a sewer with a hanger and a mini flashlight.

"She dropped her wallet in there and I fished it out and I got it for her and I said, 'Take care,' and I left. I felt good about it.

"But she called some magazine and said, 'Jimmy Fallon got my wallet and he didn't even give me an autograph.' That was like, 'What?' People are crazy."
