Man
Ordered to Stay Away From Nicole Kidman Convicted
2/1/07
A man who was ordered to stay away from actress Nicole Kidman for three
years has been convicted of breaking a glass in a woman's face.
Matthew Hooker faces up to seven years in prison for the December 2005
incident in a San Francisco, California bar.
He argued the glass broke accidentally, but prosecutors insisted he
pushed her and threw water in her face after she accused him of being
rude. The victim was left with facial scars after the attack.
Hooker was convicted of mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon.
Back in 2001, he was ordered to stay away from Kidman after she claimed
he had entered her home and sent her letters, offering to tutor her
children.
He maintained his innocence throughout his trial, stating, "I
wrote her a letter. I went by her house to ask to take her to the ballet
and to take her kids to ice cream. That's it."
