Leonardo
DiCaprio Attacker Facing Extradition
1/4/08
The woman accused of attacking Leonardo DiCaprio faces an extradition
order that will force her back to the U.S. from Canada to face the
charges.
Aretha Wilson, 37, is believed to have slashed the Hollywood actor with
a beer bottle at a party in 2005. A warrant was issued for her arrest
after the incident on 20 June 2005, charging her with one count of assault
with a deadly weapon, but she failed to turn herself into authorities and
has since been arrested in Canada. DiCaprio, 33, is said to have suffered
great bodily harm during the attack.
Wilson is currently in police custody in Toronto, Canada, in connection
with a separate case of aggravated assault. Prosecutors are waiting to
hear whether the charge against Wilson is an extraditable offence.
