Britney
Spears Had No Gun During Police Stand Off
1/7/08
Troubled singer Britney Spears did not have a gun when she took her
children hostage during a stand off with emergency services at her home.
The star sparked a major incident when she refused to hand over her two
sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline on Thursday (03Jan08) after a scheduled
visit at her Beverly Hills, California, mansion.
It had been feared Spears threatened to harm herself as well as kids
Sean Preston and Jayden James during the incident, which culminated in her
being taken in an ambulance to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
for a mental evaluation.
But it has now been confirmed that the star was not in possession of a
lethal weapon at the time.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department tells celebrity
blogger Perez Hilton, "There was no gun involved - that's the first
we've heard of this. The police were called out to Britney Spears'
residence to investigate custody issues over her children - not because
there was a gun in the house."
Spears was discharged from hospital on Saturday afternoon (05Jan08),
when she checked herself out to return home with her father Jamie.
Following the headline-grabbing incident, Spears' visitation rights to
see her sons were temporarily suspended and Federline was awarded
"sole legal custody and sole physical custody" of the kids at an
emergency hearing on Friday (04Jan08). The custody order lasts until 14
January (08).
