Former American Idol contestant Jessica Sierra is fearing for the welfare of her unborn child after she was rushed to hospital over the New Year.

The 22-year-old, who spent the festive season behind bars in Florida following her arrest in December (07) after a drunken bar brawl, was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital on New Year's Eve (31Dec07) after experiencing "severe bleeding", reports TMZ.

But the singer was given the all-clear and doctors have reassured Sierra her baby is fine, despite the pregnancy scare.

Sierra is currently waiting to be released from Falkenburg Road Jail after a judge sentenced her to three years probation on Monday (07Jan08) - on the condition she completes a one-year stint in rehab to kick her cocaine habit.

She will be freed from police custody once flight plans are finalized.
