Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Disagree Over Godmother Role  1/18/08

New parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are battling over who will be their baby daughter Harlow's godmother.

Richie wants pal Paris Hilton to act as the tot's guardian, while rocker Madden would prefer to name his future sister-in-law, Aussie actress/model Sophie Monk, godmother.

A source tells America's Globe, "Joel doesn't think Paris is up to the task... He's lobbying for Sophie."

Monk will become part of the Madden family when she weds fiancé Benji Madden, Joel's twin brother and Good Charlotte band mate.
