INTERVENTION: JASON
This episode of INTERVENTION: JASON is about a twenty-three-year-old man who
was the sixth of seven children born into an extremely strict Southern-Baptist
family. Jason's father, a preacher, and his mother, were quick to dole out
excessive punishments. To the outside world, Jason and his siblings seemed to be
a picture-perfect family; but inside, the children were growing up sheltered,
depressed and living in fear. When Jason’s mother came out as a lesbian, his
parents divorced and his father was banished from the church.
Jason’s father took several jobs to feed the many hungry mouths in the
house, leaving Jason home alone with no supervision. To fill the void, Jason
turned to drugs and alcohol. Now he shoots cocaine 15 to 20 times a day, drinks
from morning till night, and sells drugs to college students to pay for it.
Jason’s family knows it’s time to repair the damage a lifetime of neglect
has caused, except one person – Jason’s younger sister Joy, the baby of the
family, who is quickly heading down Jason's path. Can a double intervention save
the two youngest members of the family? Interventionist: Ken Seeley.
