Horse Owners Hit Back at Pink  1/23/08

Pop star Pink has been dubbed "ignorant" and a "stupid girl" after accusing New York carriage drivers of abusing their horses.

The singer - who is currently collaborating with People for the Ethical treatment of Animals - has appeared on billboards across the city, urging New Yorkers and tourists to boycott the traditional mode of transport.

She claimed, "Every time I see these horses in New York City, it hurts my heart.

"These horses aren't taken care of at all - their hooves are made for grass and they're forced to walk on concrete, and there's fumes from all the Mercedes (traffic in the city), which the horses suck in all day long."

But the Horse & Carriage Association has struck back - urging Pink and PETA to get their facts straight.

Spokesperson Carolyn Daly tells the New York Daily News, "They have specialized shoes for concrete. We haven't had one animal cruelty violation from the three agencies that oversee us."

Slamming the "ignorant comments of a B-list pop star", Day mocks a Pink song, adding, "A true Stupid Girl is one who talks publicly about something she knows nothing about."
