Paris Hilton Buys Nicole Richie Baby Gifts in Bid for Godmother Role  1/22/08

Heiress Paris Hilton has picked up thousands of dollars worth of presents for her The Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie's new daughter Harlow - in a bid to be named the baby's godmother.

The 26-year-old visited the gifting suites at the annual Sundance Film Festival in Utah, which began on Thursday (17Jan08) - where she picked out a gift basket from Hollywood baby boutique Petit Tresor worth $1,500.

She also collected five organic blankets from earth-friendly designer Robbie Adrian.

New parents Richie and Joel Madden are said to be battling over who will be the tot's guardian, with the socialite picking best friend Hilton, and the Good Charlotte rocker preferring his future sister-in-law, Australian actress/model Sophie Monk, for the role.

Harlow Winter Kate Madden was welcomed into the world in Los Angeles earlier this month (11Jan08).
