Britney Spears' paparazzi boyfriend has stunned fans by revealing the pop star had hoped she was pregnant with his child.

British photographer Adnan Ghalib went public with the truth about his brief romance with Spears on U.S. news show The Insider on Tuesday night (22Jan08).

And after revealing the fling was "far from over," despite reports Spears has dumped the snapper and filed a restraining order against him, Ghalib confessed his late-night pregnancy test with the pop star was for real.

Spears' longtime companion Sam Lufti previously told reporters that the singer and her boyfriend were "messing around" when they were caught looking at pregnancy tests in a Los Angeles pharmacy.

But now Ghalib insists Spears really thought she was pregnant with his child.

He told the news show, "She was hoping she was pregnant with my child... She felt that she was (pregnant). She has a very maternal instinct.

"She was feeling a lot of things she said she felt when she was pregnant."

But Ghalib insisted Spears is not pregnant.

He used the TV interview to lash out at reports he and Spears had split, insisting he had recently spoken to the pop star over the phone.

Ghalib accused cynics in the media of making up stories, adding, "People don't like happy in Hollywood... People don't want fairytale endings. I don't think anybody wants her (Spears) to be happy... And scandal sells."
