Angelina Jolie Adopted Ethiopian on a Recommendation from Maddox  7/7/05

Angelina Jolie knew she had to adopt an Ethiopian baby girl when her Cambodian son Maddox blew a kiss at her.

The Mr and Mrs Smith star adopted Zahara Markey from the Wide Horizons adoption agency yesterday (06JUL05).

The 30-year-old, who works as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, knew she wanted Zahara to become her daughter when three-year-old Maddox took a shine to the baby.

A nurse at the agency, Lete Brham, says, "When Maddox looked at the baby in her cot he blew a kiss as if he was saying that was the girl he wanted as a sister. It was so beautiful.

"The baby looks very like Angelina. They have the same color eyes. Angelina told me, 'She is beautiful and I will cherish her.'"

Twice-divorced Jolie has made no secret of her desire to extend her family and following a tour of Ethiopia earlier this year (05), she said of Maddox, "He is in love with Africa, so he has been asking for an African brother or sister."
