Ron Howard Wants Brad Pitt to Play Van Gogh 7/8/05

Movie maker Ron Howard is hoping Brad Pitt's love of art will prompt the movie star to say yes to a proposed remake of Vincent Van Gogh biopic Lust for Life.

Howard and his producing partner Brian Glazer feel Pitt would make the perfect Van Gogh in their revamp of the 1956 classic, which starred Kirk Douglas as the tormented Dutch artist, according to movie gossip website Movie Hole.

The original, which was directed by Liza Minnelli's father Vincente (corr), earned Douglas an Oscar nomination.
