Nicole Richie Attacks Weight Loss Fears 7/12/05

Socialite-turned-reality TV star Nicole Richie has lashed out at accusations she's taken her diet and exercise regime too far. 

Richie's dramatic weight loss has concerned friends and fans, who have linked her new physique to her close friendship with Lindsay Lohan - who recently received a petition signed by 12,500 fans, urging her to fatten up. 

But Richie, 23, insists her regular workouts with Los Angeles personal fitness trainer Adam Irnster are healthy. 

She explains, "I have more energy and I'm more confident. I never thought I could have as much confidence."
