Mariah Carey 'Spurns Prostitute Sister To Protect Career'  7/17/05

Mariah Carey's managers have ordered the R&B beauty to spurn her hooker sister Alison so that her image isn't tainted by her sibling, who is facing jail after being arrested and charged with prostitution. 

Alison could face a three-month prison sentence after New York police hired a yacht for a "sting" operation and then contacted her through a website, inviting her to have sex on the Long Island marina for $252. 

The 44-year-old, who is HIV positive, agreed to pleasure the client, but was arrested and charged with penal violation when she boarded the yacht. 

And Mariah's troubled sibling has asked the HONEY singer for help to pay a lawyer before she goes to court next month (AUG05) but was rebuffed by the superstar's aides, reports British newspaper The Sunday Times. 

Mariah's managers claim she must be "shielded" from her sister because the family scandal is threatening to mar the 35-year-old's remarkable comeback. 

Alison credits herself with her sister's success, insisting she encouraged Mariah to "throw out her chest and develop her vocal range" and even had sex for "tips" so she could dress her sibling for stardom.
