Landing Stars Slam Desperate Housewives
7/22/05
The former stars of Knots Landing have hailed contemporary TV hit
Desperate Housewives as an inferior copy of their 1980s soap opera.
At a reunion of the Knots Landing cast on Tuesday (19JUL05), stars Joan
Van Ark, Donna Mills and Michele Lee admitted they were huge fans of the
ABC show, but believe Teri
Hatcher and her cast mates' storylines are very similar to Knots,
reports the New York Daily News.
Mills, who played bad girl Abby, boasts, "Oh, we were better than
that."
Lee adds, "We were never desperate."
Van Ark recalled episode eight of Desperate Housewives, when Felicity
Huffman's character Lynette was being comforted by Marcia Cross' Bree and
Hatcher's Susan as she declared she was a bad mother.
She explains, "If that wasn't Knots and sisterhood... The
connection between the women is something that was, I think, pure gold on
Knots Landing, and it's why I so adore Desperate Housewives. It's
sisterhood, and it's women coping, coping, coping." |
