Jesse Metcalfe Recalls Turbulent Flying Experience  7/30/05

Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe is reeling from a "near death experience", where he was certain a plane he was traveling on was about to crash.

The 26-year-old actor became extremely worried recently, when a charter flight he was on from New York's LaGuardia Airport hit trouble as it approached the popular local beach destination.

He says, "There was a lot of fog and we had to circle the runway three times.

We thought maybe the plane was going down. I'm very happy to be alive."

The small plane carried Metcalfe, his actor pal Jonathan Sadowski and a publicist. After being unable to land in East Hampton, the plane was diverted to West Hampton.

Metcalfe adds, "I was calm. I didn't say my last rites. We were trying to make light of it, but we were all pretty scared. That was the first time I've been (diverted)."
