Sick Shakira Struggles Through  7/7/06

Latin beauty Shakira nearly pulled out of performing at Heliodoro Stadium on the Spanish island of Tenerife last night (06JUL06) after she was struck with a severe virus.

Shakira, currently on her feted European tour, has been suffering from a painful throat infection and soaring temperatures - but despite nearly ditching the date at the last minute, she determinedly struggled through the set.

And the Hips Don't Lie star, famed for her raunchy outfits, may have disappointed her male fans, but she followed doctor's orders and covered up in sober black trousers and a T-shirt.

An insider says, "Shakira was feeling lousy and had a fever all day. It was touch and go if she was going to perform until half-an-hour before she was due on.

"That's why she wore trousers on stage - even when she put on her belly dancer's outfit."
