Kate Beckinsale Turned Away From England World Cup Clash  7/10/06

Underworld star Kate Beckinsale almost missed out on watching England's FIFA World Cup exit against Portugal when she arrived late for a live pub screening of the match.

The English actress and friends tried to gain entrance to Ye Olde Kings Head pub in Santa Monica, California, for the big game but was initially turned away because the place was full to capacity.

One reveler says, "She didn't look like Kate Beckinsale but someone recognized her and the management made sure she could watch the game."

Beckinsale then joined fellow Brit Minnie Driver for the televised game, which England lost on penalties.
