Kelly Monaco and Brooke Burke Join Forces to Speak Out Against Prickly
Men at NYC Protest Rally; Celebrity Beauties to Lead Anti-Scruff Protest
Rally on Behalf of NoScruf - the 'National Organization of Social
Crusaders Repulsed by Unshaven Faces'
NEW YORK, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Television stars Kelly Monaco and
Brooke Burke will help mobilize frustrated women everywhere by leading a
protest rally today on behalf of NoScruf, an organization that has taken a
stand against scruffy-faced men. The female members of NoScruf will
proudly display their unshaven body hair today in New York's Herald Square
to send the message that they will not shave until their guys do.
NoScruf, which stands for the National Organization of Social Crusaders
Repulsed by Unshaven Faces, was founded by swimsuit model/activist Terry
Tarentelli on behalf of women who are fed up with scruffy men and an
apparent double standard: it's okay for men to be hairy and scratchy, but
women are expected to maintain a hairless and beautiful appearance.
Research shows that only three percent of women say that stubble is their
preferred look on men. In fact, the vast majority of people believe that
women hate the way stubble feels.
"Women have been suffering in silence and tolerating scratchy
faces for far too long and I encourage supporters everywhere to join the
NoScruf movement," said Kelly Monaco, whom the group has adopted as a
spokesperson. "We at NoScruf have a message for scruffy guys out
there who want to get close to us: 'In your dreams, stubble-boy!'"
The centerpiece of the NoScruf campaign is NoScruf.org, the movement's
Web site, which provides information and inspiration to women who have had
enough of scruffy faces. The site features news reports, profiles of
NoScruf's founders and video clips. In one video titled "In Your
Dreams, Stubble Boy," we see a scruffy young man who gets a glimpse
of what the world would be like if women stopped shaving.
"I couldn't be happier to help the NoScruf movement. If guys
across the country don't lose their scruff, they're going to lose their
girlfriends. It's sure to get 'hairy' and it definitely won't be
pretty!" said Brooke Burke, a celebrity supporter, who will also
appear in a print advertisement for the cause.
The NoScruf print campaign, which will feature celebrity faces with
NoScruf messaging positioned to appear as facial hair, will support
marketing and grassroots efforts to help NoScruf communicate their message
to guys across the U.S.
