Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne has married fellow musician Deryck Whibley on a private estate in California, according to US media reports.

People magazine claims the couple, who had been engaged for about a year, wed Saturday (15JUL06) in an outdoor, nondenominational ceremony in the coastal city of Montecito.

About 110 guests watched the 21-year-old SK8ER BOI singer wed Whibley, 26, the lead singer of Canadian rock band Sum 41.

She was reportedly walked down the aisle by her father John as a band played Mendelssohn's Wedding March.

Wearing a Vera Wang gown and clutching a bouquet of white roses, Lavigne and her new husband were later showered with rose petals after exchanging vows.

The tented reception was preceded by an outdoor cocktail hour.
