Shankman to Guest Judge Thursday on So You Think You Can Dance

The summer hit SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE returns this week with
performances by the Top 14 finalists (Kameron Bink, Cedric Gardner, Anya
Garnis, Jaimie Goodwin, Lauren Gottlieb, Neil Haskell, Sabra Johnson, Hok
Konishi, Pasha Kovalev, Shauna Noland, Dominic Sandoval, Lacey Schwimmer,
Sara Von Gillern and Danny Tidwell) Wednesday, July 11 (8:00-9:30 PM
ET/PT) on FOX. Adam Shankman, director and choreographer of the upcoming
film “Hairspray,” joins the panel as a guest judge, and the finalists
compete as couples once again on the Wednesday performance show. The
following night, the judges will send two more dancers home, and Hilary
Duff will perform “Stranger” on the live results show Thursday, July
12 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed).
In addition to appearing as a guest judge this week, Shankman will
choreograph the group routine featuring the song “You Can’t Stop the
Beat” from “Hairspray” on Thursday’s results show. Shankman is one
of the entertainment world's premiere dance and physical comedy
choreographers, having put his creative stamp on many well-known comedies,
dramas, thrillers and animated films. His choreographic projects include
“The Addams Family,” “Casper,” “Inspector Gadget,” “Anastasia,”
“George of the Jungle,” “Boogie Nights,” “Miami Rhapsody” and
“The Flintstones,” for which he was nominated for a Bob Fosse Award.
Shankman won the Bob Fosse Award for his work with Simon West.
Currently, Shankman is bringing “Hairspray,” the feature film
adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway production, to life with a
remarkable collection of talent including John Travolta, Queen Latifah,
Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken. “Hairspray” opens in
theaters July 20.
Hilary Duff, a native of Houston, gained global recognition in 2001 as
the star of the hit series "Lizzie McGuire.” In May 2003, she
brought her character to the big screen with "The Lizzie McGuire
Movie." She went on to co-star in hit films like "Agent Cody
Banks," "Cheaper by the Dozen," "Cinderella
Story," “Raise Your Voice,” “The Perfect Man” and “Material
Girls.”
Duff’s four-times platinum, No. 1 solo debut CD "Metamorphosis”
sold 3 million records, as did her self-titled album “Hilary Duff.”
Duff has enjoyed Top-40 hits like "So Yesterday," "Come
Clean," “Fly” and “Wake Up.” “Most Wanted” was her second
CD to debut at No. 1, where it remained for two weeks.
For her latest album, “Dignity,” Duff teamed up with Grammy
Award-winning songwriter Kara Dio Guardi as well as top
producer/songwriters Chico Bennett and Richard Vission, Tim and Bob, Vada
Nobles, Fred Wreck, will.i.am and Rhett Lawrence.
Duff’s upcoming movie projects include "War, Inc."
(starring John Cusack, Sir Ben Kingsley and Marisa Tomei) and the animated
feature “Foodfight!” She recently debuted her own perfume, “With
Love.”
