A representative for Ashlee Simpson has quashed rumors she is engaged to Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz.

The pair began dating earlier this year (07), with gossip websites in the U.S. alleging Wentz had proposed to the singer before his band's performance at the Live Earth event earlier this month (07Jul07).

Wesbite Popcrunch claimed the engagement was kept a secret because of the failure of sister Jessica's marriage to Nick Lachey, which ended in divorce in 2006.

But a spokesperson for Simpson tells UsMagazine.com Wentz and Simpson's engagement rumors are "absolutely not true".
