Mary-Kate Olsen Battles Ex-landlord Over Kitchen 7/28/08

Mary-Kate Olsen is caught up in a financial battle with her former landlord, who accuses the actress of trashing the Hollywood pad she rented from him.

The 22 year old allegedly broke an agreement to refit the $15,000 (GBP7,500)-a-month house near Sunset Boulevard before she moved out in April (08), after customizing the kitchen to suit her needs.

She is also accused of flooding a garden pond. The landlord is refusing to return a $30,000 (GBP15,000) security deposit and is seeking more money to cover the cost of the work he had to carry out after the Olsen twin moved out.

But Olsen's lawyer, Marty Singer, tells TMZ.com the star was given permission to renovate the kitchen - and he claims the landlord stepped in before she had the chance to remodel it. Olsen is fighting for the return of her security deposit.
