Shia LaBeouf Urged To Fit Breathalyzer Device 7/30/08

Shia LaBeouf has been urged to install an anti-drink driving device in his car, following his DUI arrest at the weekend. The 22-year-old Transformers star was charged with driving under the influence after his truck collided with another vehicle and flipped across a road in Hollywood on Sunday (27Jul08).

He is due in court next month (Aug08) to face a misdemeanor DUI charge - but Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) are already calling on the actor to agree to fit ignition interlock devices in all his vehicles. The contraption prevents a car from starting until the driver has passed a sobriety breath test.

A M.A.D.D. spokesperson says, "We hope Mr. LaBeouf will voluntarily use the opportunity of his DUI arrest to educate his fans - and the country - about this life-saving device by installing the device on his vehicles."

Four states - Washington, Nebraska, Alaska and Colorado - currently force convicted drink drivers to install the devices in their vehicles.
