Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has vowed never to wear a bikini in public.

The brunette actress, who plays single mother Susan Mayer in the hit ABC show, prefers to cover her stomach up with a swimsuit on the beach, instead of risking her 40-year-old stomach being scrutinized by the press.

Hatcher says, "I don't wear a bikini in public.

"Maybe 50 per cent would say I look cute and the other 50 per cent would say, you a*s is a little droopy to be running round in that tiny bikini these days.

A great illusionist, that's what I am."
