Angelina Jolie Rules Out Reconciliation With Dad  6/28/05

Angelina Jolie has given up on recommunicating with her estranged father, actor Jon Voight, because being with him makes her feel miserable.

The actress admits it has been four years since she last spoke to the Deliverance star and now she insists she doesn't need him in her life, despite his much-publicized pleas for reconciliation.

She says, "I've never been desperate to put something back together. People disagree with this, but if you have people in your life who make you feel bad about yourself, make you cry, then get them out of your life. Be strong and focus your love elsewhere.

"I've had some good moments with my father, and I don't think he's a bad person. I just think we are not a good family when we are all together. There's far too much pain."

And she worries that reconciling with her father will be a negative thing for her adopted son Maddox.

She adds, "I never want to come home from a bad lunch with my father and yell at Mad because I'm stressed. I don't want Mad to see me cry."
