Julia Roberts has insisted her critically panned Broadway debut was
worth the huge upheaval in her personal life.
The Pretty Woman star took time out of her successful movie career in
2004 to spend time with her cameraman husband Daniel Moder and their young
children Phinnaeus Walter and Hazel Patricia at their New Mexico ranch.
Before signing up to appear in Three Days of Rain, Roberts confessed
she needed "an exemplary reason to leave the house" but, having
done the play, she's glad she turned her life upside down for the stage.
She says, "It's always worth a little upheaval to make a dream
come true. And I wanted this so badly.
"Danny was the one who encouraged me to do this show. I mean, I
probably wouldn't have had the nerve if not for him. He kept saying 'Do
it, do it, do it.'
"I told him that our lives would change. We'd have to move to New
York. And what about the kids? He said, 'Let's just do it. We'll figure it
out.' And we did. Somehow."
