US network VH1 is launching a reality talent competition to find the
next Eminem.
The cable network is creating Ego Presents the White Rapper Show, a
comedic reality series that will test the rap skills and urban knowledge
of 12 aspiring white hip-hop artists.
White rap legend Michael "MC Search" Berrin will host the
show.
Contestants will live together in the South Bronx section of New York
City and participate in a series of challenges to test their music talent
and ability to mesh with black culture.
VH1 executive vice president of programming Michael Hirschorn insists
the show will be equal parts culture study and comedy.
He says at the end of the day "they'll have to earn credibility
and the respect of the people in the Bronx".
