German beauty Diane Kruger is ditching her stunning looks for her new role as the ageing wife of Nelson Mandela's racist prison guard.

The actress, who shot to fame as Helen of Troy - reputedly the most beautiful woman ever to have lived - in Wolfgang Petersen's epic Troy, will be sporting sagging breasts and a bulky fat suit when she stars alongside Joseph Fiennes.

Despite being forced to gain 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms) for Troy, Kruger warns cinema audiences are in for a shock when they see her heavily altered body shape in Goodbye Bafana.

She says, "The film span 20 years so both of us had to wear fat suits.

"My breasts were down to my waist."
