Carnie Wilson Worries Her Hernia Will Pop Out on TV  6/22/06

Singer Carnie Wilson waited until the fourth season of US TV show Celebrity Fit Club to burn off unwanted pounds, because she didn't want her hernia to pop out on national TV.

The daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson has been fighting the flab ever since she underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999, and she admits that getting pregnant and becoming a mother last year (05) forced her to face her fat fears head on again.

The Wilson Phillips star, who once weighed a morbidly obese 300 pounds, reveals she was initially terrified about losing weight on a TV show.

She explains, "You really have to push yourself, more than I've ever pushed myself physically in my life.

"My fears are genuine. I have a hernia that pops out if I cough, so when I have to lift something heavy I'm fearful that this is gonna pop out."

But Wilson is determined to stay in control of her weight because she never wants to balloon to 300 pounds again.

She adds, "It's not a good feeling to say to the flight attendant (on a plane), 'I need a seatbelt extension.'"
