Eminem on Antidepressants  6/23/06

Eminem has reportedly been suffering from depression after his stormy break-up with estranged wife Kimberly and the death of his friend ex D12 bandmate Proof.

The 33-year-old rapper's spokesman told the New York Daily News he was on a course of antidepressants to get him through his illness, which struck in April after his fellow rap star pal was shot dead.

Eminem, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, also split from his wife, who he is in the process of divorcing, around the same time - and the strain has taken its toll.

Spokesman Dennis Dennehy says, "Obviously, he's grieving. He is depressed as anyone would be if they lost someone that close.

"He had announced he was taking time off before this happened. It's his downtime."
