Third place 'American Idol' winner Elliott Yamin has devoted fans who
are on a mission to help find a cure for diabetes. The Central Virginia
Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has already
received over $20,000 in contributions from Elliott's fans -- and that is
just the beginning. By the time that the 'American Idols Live! Tour' comes
into town in Richmond Virginia on July 29, Elliott's fans, friends and
family hope to present JDRF with many additional contributions raised as
part of a special fundraising event that begins today -- the Yamin
Machine! for JDRF Fundraiser & Fan Party.
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) June 30, 2006 -- Third place 'American Idol'
winner Elliott Yamin has devoted fans who are on a mission to help find a
cure for diabetes. Elliott's fans united early on during the American
Idol® contest to donate money to the Central Virginia Chapter of the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) through the sale of t-shirts
and bracelets and monetary donations. JDRF has already received over
$20,000 in contributions from Elliott's fans -- and that is just the
beginning.
By the time that the 'American Idols Live! Tour' comes into town in
Richmond Virginia on July 29, Elliott's fans, friends and family hope to
present JDRF with many additional contributions raised as part of a
special fundraising event that begins today -- the Yamin Machine! for JDRF
Fundraiser & Fan Party.
On July 29, ticket holders to the fan party will feast on a buffet
provided by Champps Sports Bar and be entertained with music, video,
raffle drawings, games and more by Richmond Virginia's Mix 103-7 radio.
The fan party is sure to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for the fans,
family and special guests to meet each other and celebrate their
'Idol" Elliott Yamin.
The party will be sponsored by businesses and individuals who wish to
contribute raffle prizes to the party or monetary donations to JDRF in
conjunction with the event. Sponsors contributing more than $150 will
benefit through advertising on the Yamin Machine! Web site and other media
attention given to the event.
JDRF sponsor and party registration information is available on the Web
site at http://YaminMachine.com on the home page. There are a limited
number of tickets available to this event and they are expected to go
quickly.
The Yamin Machine! Web site and JDRF recently set a goal to raise
half-a-million dollars to help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes through the
Yamin Machine! for JDRF fundraiser. The Richmond Virginia fan party is
just one way to help contribute to this campaign.
Elliott Yamin, who is the third place 'American Idol' winner, won the
respect and adoration of people all over the world through his gifted
vocal styles, his ever-so-humble stage presence, his interest in bringing
attention to artists such as the late Donny Hathaway, and yes, the fact
that he, too, suffers from Type 1 diabetes and wears an insulin pump. His
mother, Claudette Yamin, also has diabetes and is using her voice to help
bring awareness to the JDRF and this important cause.
According to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, there are 20.8
million Americans with diabetes, and as many as 3 million* Americans with
Type 1 diabetes. More than 13,000 children are diagnosed with Type 1
diabetes in the U.S. each year. There are at least 194 million people
worldwide with diabetes, and the World Health Organization anticipates
this number will more than double by 2030.
Elliott has stated that one of his goals in life is to educate people
about the disease, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has
recognized him for his efforts in doing just that.
