Paris Hilton Turns Down Pay Jail Option  6/5/07

Socialite Paris Hilton turned down the option of serving her 23-day sentence in an up market jail to prove she is "like everyone else".

The hotel heiress begun her jail term for violating her probation following a 2006 drink-driving arrest after turning herself in to Los Angeles Sheriff authorities last night (03Jun07) at 10.30pm.

Hilton claims she turned down the option of attending a "pay jail".

Speaking yesterday (03Jun07), she said, "I did have a choice to go to a pay jail.

"But I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I'm not and that's why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I'm going to be treated like everyone else.

"I'm going to do the time, I'm going to do it the right way."
