Reformed rockers The Police brought Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival to a
standstill last night (16Jun07) when almost every visitor to the four-day
event checked out the group's show on the main stage.
Vendors even temporarily closed food stalls at the Manchester festival
- after realizing no one would be visiting them during the
much-anticipated The Police set - and joined the fans.
But, although the site of Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland
thrilled many, a handful of mistakes left the die-hards upset.
One fan said, "They were good and it was great to see them at a
festival, but it still seems they're working out a few little rough
spots."
The trio opened their 18-song hits set with Message in a Bottle, before
performing Can't Stand Losing You, The Bed's Too Big Without You and Every
Little Thing She Does Is Magic.
The Police's appearance failed to mark this year's Bonnaroo highlight -
that belonged to a late-night jam session featuring Led Zeppelin's John
Paul Jones, Roots star ?uestlove and Ben Harper.
The trio performed Led Zep's When the Levee Breaks, Good Times, Bad
Times and a 25-minute version of Dazed and Confused, as well as stunning
covers of Stevie Wonder's Superstition and Inner City Blues by Marvin
Gaye.
Another Bonnaroo highlight was Tool's headlining show, which featured a
breathtaking laser display and an appearance from Rage Against The Machine
star Tom Morello.
