Pitt/Jolie's Wine Estate Boss Thrilled By Celebrity Summer Tenants
6/10/08
The owner of the Chateau Miraval wine estate in Provence, France has
confirmed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have rented out the exclusive
retreat for the summer (08).
The news fuels speculation that Jolie plans to give birth to her twins
in Provence in August (08) to honor her late mother Marcheline
Bertrand's family, who hailed from the region.
Miraval owner Tom Bove tells Bloomberg News that the couple contacted
him weeks ago, admitting they "dropped out of the sky." He adds,
"They're personally very nice.
Brad is from the Midwest, as I am." The vineyard and the Miraval wines
it produces have become world famous thanks to the Bove family's
attempts to improve the crop with the help of organic cultivation.
The estate also features a recording studio that has been used by Sting
and Pink Floyd, who recorded parts of their The Wall album there. Pitt
and Jolie's decision to use the estate as a retreat this summer (08) has
given Miraval's wines a huge boost.
Retailers can't get enough of the winery's reds, whites and roses, with
one of Miraval's leading U.S. importers, Monarchia Matt International,
reporting cases and bottles are "nearly gone".
