THE FAB 5 HELP NY 1 NEWS CAMERAMAN JUMP IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AS A
FIRST TIME SPORTSCASTER
SPORTSCASTER AHMAD RASHAD MAKES A SPECIAL APPEARANCE ON 'QUEER EYE FOR
THE STRAIGHT GUY' EPISODE PREMIERING TUESDAY, MARCH 15TH
NEW YORK -- March 14, 2005 -- New York 1 News cameraman Kord Stanley
has been dreaming of being in front of the camera giving and delivering
the sports report since he was a child. In order to pursue his dream, his
looks, style and culture could use a slight transformation from Queer
Eye's "Fab 5." The episode "From Minor Disaster to TV
Sportscaster" premieres Tuesday, March 15 from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00
p.m. ET/PT.
Kord has been behind the scenes at NY1, but he has finally built up the
courage to try his sports casting skills on for size. "Kord's style
of dress is 'New England sports grunge'," says one of his friends.
Armed with a new wardrobe, a new stylish apartment and a renewed
confidence, Kord goes in front of the camera for the first time to prove
that he has what it takes to ascend to the next level.
"Culture Vulture" Jai Rodriguez arranges a Kord surprise
one-on-one visit with Ahmad Rashad, executive producer/host of ABC's
"NBA Inside Stuff." Rashad offers some words of advice to the
budding journalist and even sits in as a mock interviewee. The meeting
ends with a promise that Rashad will be watching Kord on the air and if he
performs well, he could have the opportunity to interview with NBA TV, the
league's 24-hour channel.
"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is a one-hour guide to
"building a better straight man," -- a "make better"
series designed for guys who want to get the girl, the job or just the
look. With the expertise and support of "The Fab 5" -- Ted
Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley and Jai Rodriguez --
the makeover unfolds with a playful deconstruction of the subject's
current lifestyle and continues on as a savagely funny showcase for the
hottest styles and trends in fashion, home design, grooming, food and
wine, and culture.
