Aiken Visits Tsunami Victims 3/25/05
American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken flew to south-east Asia earlier this
month
(MAR05) to visit children affected by 26 December's (04) devastating
Indian Ocean tsunami.
The 26-year-old "Invisible" singer, who became a UNICEF
ambassador late last year (04), recently made his first field mission when
he travelled to Indonesia and Malaysia, where he viewed tsunami relief
efforts and toured camps for homeless survivors.
And the special education major made a point of visiting children at a
primary school in the province of Aceh, where he danced with students and
took part in their classes.
He says, "I thought to myself, 'I've seen tornadoes, hurricanes,
earthquakes
- throw them all together and maybe I could understand the scope of
this thing.' But when you finally get on the ground, there's no way to
describe it." |
